In what had been a long-anticipated move, the Indiana Fever officially selected Iowa superstar rookie Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft. There was never a doubt who the Indiana Fever would select with the first pick in Monday's WNBA Draft.
Clark, a 6-foot point guard, is one of the most decorated players in NCAA history. She was a three-time All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year in each of her three seasons at Iowa.
The Fever lost to the Dallas Wings 79-76 in Clark's WNBA preseason debut. Despite the loss, Clark showed flashes of her potential, scoring 15 points and dishing out five assists.
The Fever will open their regular season on May 14 against the New York Liberty.
